Harmony Projects

Harmony Institute has always been involved in social programs focusing mainly on providing psychological support and trainings for helping professionals.

Most of the social programs are carried out in partnership with charities, state agencies and businesses. To ensure the long-lasting cooperation we participate in grant tendors and look for partners who share our values.

In 1989 Harmony started the first Hotline Service for Children, Adolescents and Their Parents in Russia. Since then trained psychologists have been providing 24-hour free psychological support for this population. Our service works 24 hours a day and has two channels. We also run a free Psychological Help Office for university students of St. Petersburg.

Harmony has a big experience in trauma work. We have conducted several projects providing psychological support for trauma survivors and educational trainings for helping professionals:

In 2010-2011 with the support from Russian National Charity Foundation we developed and conducted a psychological assistance program for children and adolescents with diabetes.

During 2011-2015 Harmony conducted a project supported by Russian private Charity Foundations “The Key” for specialists who work with foster families. This Foundation focuses on the work with orphans and foster families trying to build sustainable living communities for foster families. Harmony provided the staff training for the Schools for Foster Parents – which is a part of this program, and also lead training programs for over 200 social workers and psychologists who work with foster families and families in crisis from St. Petersburg and other regions.

We are continuing our social project to support families with elderly people who were prisoners of Nazi concentration camps and survivors of Leningrad’ Siege during the Second World War. The project is called "Supportive Dialogue", and includes individual and family counseling, education, and support groups for relatives to help them to develop positive relationships. The project was initiated in 2016 with the support of the German State Foundation program "Memory, Responsibility, and Future". More than hundred families and about 250 relatives took part in that project. During 2020 Harmony also sponsored 6 free online lectures by experienced and respected medical doctors for the members of the families with people with limited mobility.

Our project "I'm Responsible for Myself" supported by Heineken International, Ltd. started in 2009 and continues until now. The project is designed to teach adolescents healthy and responsible attitudes and behaviors towards alcohol. Between 2010 and 2020 about 6,752 teenagers, over 2,244 parents, and more than 748 teachers were involved in the project.
